Jasmine Rivera is a North Miami Beach resident, public-service professional, and candidate for North Miami Beach City Commission, Seat 2. Her professional experience spans municipal government, public communications, community engagement, project coordination, leadership, and management.
Jasmine began serving the City of North Miami Beach in 2019 as a General Clerk in Public Affairs. Through her work and increasing responsibilities, she had the opportunity to serve as Assistant to the Mayor and City Commission. In those roles, she worked alongside residents, elected officials, city staff, businesses, and community partners and gained firsthand experience with the operations and responsibilities of local government.
In 2022, Jasmine transitioned to the private sector, where she spent three years strengthening her leadership, communications, and management experience. Her connection to North Miami Beach remained strong, and in 2025 she returned to serve the City in Communications.
Jasmine also earned a Master of Business Administration, reflecting her interest in combining public service with organizational, management, and financial knowledge.
Her experience has shaped her view that effective municipal government depends on communication, accessibility, accountability, and follow-through. As a candidate for City Commission, she has identified public safety, infrastructure, flooding, traffic congestion, neighborhood quality, responsible growth, support for local businesses, and communication between City Hall and residents among her areas of focus.
Jasmine's family also reflects the diversity of North Miami Beach. She comes from a Hispanic background, her husband is Haitian, and they are raising their family in a community that includes Caribbean, Hispanic, Black, Haitian, Jewish, and many other communities.
Her campaign is organized around the themes Our City. Our Voice. Our Future. These themes represent her stated focus on community safety and quality of life, accessible communication and resident engagement, and long-term planning and infrastructure.
Jasmine brings previous municipal-government experience, private-sector leadership experience, and a continuing connection to North Miami Beach to her candidacy for City Commission.
North Miami Beach is not simply the city where I am seeking public office. It is my community. It is where I live, where I have built my family, where I have worked, and where I have developed a deep appreciation for the people who make this city what it is.
Good intentions matter, but they have to be accompanied by knowledge, organization, accountability, and responsible decision-making. That is the experience I would bring to the Commission.
North Miami Beach faces issues that residents encounter every day. Traffic affects how families get to work and school. Flooding and aging infrastructure affect neighborhoods and property.
Residents expect city services to be responsive. Businesses need an environment where they can operate and contribute to the local economy. Families want safe neighborhoods. And taxpayers deserve transparency and responsible stewardship of public resources.
These issues are interconnected. Infrastructure decisions affect neighborhoods. Growth affects traffic.
Communication affects public trust. Public safety depends not only on enforcement but also on strong relationships between residents, city government, and public safety professionals.
As Commissioner, my priorities would include strengthening public safety partnerships, supporting infrastructure improvements, improving communication between City Hall and residents, supporting local businesses, encouraging responsible growth, and promoting accountability in the use of taxpayer resources.
North Miami Beach is a diverse community. Our residents come from different backgrounds and bring different experiences to our city. My own family reflects that diversity. I come from a Hispanic background, my husband is Haitian, and we are raising our family in a community that includes Caribbean, Hispanic, Black, Haitian, Jewish, and many other cultures and traditions. That diversity is part of the strength of North Miami Beach. But representation also comes with responsibility. Residents should have access to government regardless of their background, neighborhood, language, or circumstances.
That brings me to the three ideas that define my vision for this campaign:
Our City. Our Voice. Our Future.
Our City means taking care of the community we share. It means safe neighborhoods, functioning services, well-maintained public spaces, and attention to the needs of residents and businesses.
Our Voice means communication and accessibility. It means creating stronger connections between residents and City Hall and making sure community input is part of the process.
Our Future means preparing North Miami Beach for the years ahead. It means addressing infrastructure challenges before they become emergencies, planning responsibly, investing wisely, and considering the long-term consequences of today's decisions.
I am not entering this race without experience.
I have worked inside municipal government.
I have worked in the private sector.
I have worked in communications and community engagement.
I have coordinated projects and programs.
And I have seen local government from both the administrative and resident perspectives.
That experience has shaped the way I approach public service. Being elected would not be the accomplishment. The responsibility would begin after the election.
The work would be measured by whether residents receive better communication, whether projects move forward responsibly, whether neighborhoods receive attention, and whether government remains accountable to the people it serves.
I am grateful to the residents, colleagues, community members, friends, and family members who have been part of my journey. North Miami Beach has given me opportunities, relationships, and experiences that have shaped who I am. Now I am offering my experience, energy, and commitment to public service to the people of this city.
